This description relates to the 1985 shark experiment.

Self adhesive stamps have been around since the early 1960's but all these were known as peel and stick - the self-adhesive stamps could be pulled off the backing paper and none of these were perforated or had perforations.

However in 1985 it was decided by Tonga to experiment with a fully perforated self-adhesive stamp but this time the backing paper was pulled off the stamp, just the opporsite of what had happened since the early 1960's.

Because the Tonga islanders were not used to peeling the backing paper off the stamp, the printers had instructions printed on the back of each stamp. This block is overprinted specimen.

REGISTRATION

Australia Post SMALL international registration envelope - 10.00 euros - used for smaller items and smaller covers.

Australia Post LARGE international registration envelope - 16.00 euros - used for larger items and larger covers. NOTE there is no tracking with registered letters. Tracking costs a little bit more.

On certain occasions if large total is purchased, tracking may be required and I will advise the cost - currently it is 21.00 euros

NOTE - IMPORTANT - WHEN REGISTRATION IS COMPULSORY

Registration fee MUST be paid when:-

1. Total cost of items purchased is over 60 euros.
2. Any country I deem necessary because of risk.
