Pegamoid is a sort of imitation leather made from cotton canvas, coated with nitrocellulose, the latter made by soaking cotton in a mixture of nitric acid, sulfuric acid and citric acid all in stoneware pots. The nitrocellulose is then deposited and calendered on the fabric by special machines.
pegamoid is a material replacing leather for bindings (in fact a coated canvas), it is stuck to the cardboard using glue (not self-adhesive).
